Wakefield Song Lyrics
When we first made the Wakefield album and started putting the graphics together, we considered including the song lyrics for each song, but there was no space on the front or back covers, and we didn't think it was practical to make a fold out cover or add an additional sheet, especially considering that no one felt like our lyrics were anything special.  Still, I always thought it was fun to read the lyrics to the songs that I liked, while listening to the song.  So, for those of you that would like to do the same, I have included the lyrics to the songs I wrote.  Perhaps I can talk Geoff into jotting his down as well.  If so, I will include them as I receive them.

I Want You
When we played at the Main Gate for 3 months, we tried many things to be entertaining to what seemed like the same crowd night after night.  It was also a great time for us to write music, since our equipment was already set up each night.  The manager of the Main Gate was a woman named Gretta.  She wanted us to do a "sexy" song with a good rhythm.  We also wanted to try doing a song where we all could switch instruments.  I went home and wrote "I Want You" to kill two birds with one stone so to speak.  It was meant to be a sexy song, but simple enough that we could switch instruments.  I ended up playing bass guitar, Geoff played the drums, Jeff played guitar, and our bass player (Chuck at the time) would also play guitar.  We would sway back and forth with the rhythm of the intro.

Switching instruments only lasted for those performances at the Main Gate.  After we started touring, the song became a 3 piece tune where I would go out front and sing.  In the end, it was one of the songs chosen on the album because it does have a sexy groove.
When I, I look at you.  My heart just dont know what to do.
Could I sit next to you.  Please, please tell me I can do.

Come, come hold my hand.  Tell, tell me "you know you can".
Ya move, move, move me dear.  Oh, oh, oh, I shouldn't fear.

Cuz I want you, I want you.  I want you.  I want you.

No, no, no, ya know.  I can not leave you alone.
Drive, drive, drive, me home.  Show, show me when we're alone.

Cuz I want you, I want you.  I want you.  I want you.  Shhhhh

I want you.  I want you.  I want you.   I want you.  I want you.
