Wakefield Song Lyrics
When we first made the Wakefield album and started putting the graphics together, we considered including the song lyrics for each song, but there was no space on the front or back covers, and we didn't think it was practical to make a fold out cover or add an additional sheet, especially considering that no one felt like our lyrics were anything special.  Still, I always thought it was fun to read the lyrics to the songs that I liked, while listening to the song.  So, for those of you that would like to do the same, I have included the lyrics to the songs I wrote.  Perhaps I can talk Geoff into jotting his down as well.  If so, I will include them as I receive them.

Wonderstar
This song was written when Wakefield first formed, back in the late 70's.  I believe I was still in high school.  It was kind of a magical time for music and for us.  I had just gotten my Minimoog and wanted to show it off a bit.  The song was based loosely on a rock musician I named "Wonderstar" that was given a gift.  The gift was a gift of music that he would use to share important information with all those that would listen.  I even had a shirt made up once that said "I am Wonderstar".  It was one of the songs that appeared on our first 45 RPM record.  We won the battle of the bands and went to Minneapolis to record it.
What do I hold in my hand that no one else can see?  A touch of light upon the black now passed on down to me.
I hear some people speak of truth that laugh into their face.  A voice then whispers in my ear saying "Theirs is no disgrace".

Wonderstar, wonderstar.  Wonderstar, wonderstar.

Collapsing thoughts all through my mind of how it seemed to be.  An unknown force acting on my soul now tearing til I bleed.
Mist keeps falling from the sky, fading away the day.  And now it lay within my hand nothing stands in the way.

Wonderstar, wonderstar.  Wonderstar, wonderstar.

Knowing of the fate that waits falling from above.  To try and warn those who don't believe what was I thinking of?
To look into my eyes and see a sparkle from within.  The knowledge of my meaning here now knowing I could win.

Wonderstar, wonderstar.  Wonderstar, wonderstar.  Wonderstar, wonderstar.  Wonderstar, wonderstar.

Lord can you feel, why I'm standing here.
Lord can you feel, why I'm standing here.
Lord can you feel, why I'm standing here.
Lord can you feel, why I'm standing here.
